GARY WILMOT
Sings Music To Watch Girls By

GARY WILMOT 2000 Programme cover

On Thursday 6th April 2000 I was once again in Cheltenham's Town Hall, this time it was to see Comedian & West End Star GARY WILMOT.

Before the concert started an announcement was made for people to "Turn off their mobiles, give up their Japanese style watches that go beep on the hour, and for people not to walk up and down the ailes as it spoils the show for others", the last announcement is something I whole heartedly aggreed with.

The tracks performed on the night included MUSIC TO WATCH GIRLS BY, UP UP AND AWAY, WE ARE GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD, RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD, WINDMILLS OF MY MIND, CABARET, DOWNTOWN, FLY ME TO THE MOON, PAPER MOON, MOON RIVER (which Gary said was by Andy Williams but actually it was originally by Danny Williams). Another song that was performed was QUANDO QUANDO (which as Gary says sounds so much more romantic than the english translation of WHEN WHEN), this of course made the audience and me laugh.

During the show he also sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY in four different styles which were "Country & Western", "Punk Rock", "Rock 'n' Roll", and "Opera" the last of which I thought was incredible.

As well as GARY WILMOT he was joined on stage by two females with supurb voices, and THE MIKE ALEXANDER QUARTET.

So the full line-up of the band was:-

I enjoy the show and felt it was delight to hear so many of the old songs performed so well.
